New TAJ Website

I have just discovered the existence of a new website for the TAJ community. It is my hope that the new website will be better able to follow up on events than I have the time and energy to do. I suspect that they will better represent some of the concerns regarding this pending election and the multiple pending construction worries, as well as financial concerns that our community has.

Go to tajcommunityvoice.wix.com/tajcv and give it a try!

TAJ has an Official Website!!!

At long last there is an official website for the TAJ community.  Click on the picture below to be taken to the new page where you can find all the information that was otherwise distributed via the monthly ink-and-paper newsletter.  There is information about financial matters, about renovations and repairs, links to previous newsletters, a calendar of events, and some contact information.  The site provides some great pictures of the community, too.  Overall, the website is very well organized and looks sharp.

WELL DONE to those that made this happen!

TAJ's Official Website To Be Upgraded

For those who know about such things, you remember that Jay Stahl had volunteered his time and efforts to design and maintain the Official TAJ Website.  Nearly two years ago, under the direction of then president Manny Salomon, the Association decided to take another direction.  They changed from the website that was created and maintained by volunteer effort to a commercial website service.  It sounded like a great idea and there were many promises of an improved flow of information.

Without knowing the details of why it happened, it is plain to anyone that the change did not make an improvement.  The new (current) website is fraught with problems.  It is difficult to understand how it is organized (where to find what you are looking for).  There are many unused links and empty pages on the site.  Most frustratingly, there are documents that are mislabeled and therefore nearly lost for any practical purpose.

Jay Stahl is once again going to run the website for TAJ.  That is excellent news for all of us who might want to utilize the site, as he has proven himself to be creative and conscientious in that duty.

Thanks for accepting the job and volunteering your time, Jay.  Thanks to the BOD for giving him the chance to do it again -- that was a smart decision.

by Steve Frahm
BOD President WH announced that Jay Stahl has volunteered to be webmaster of the official TAJ website once again, and the BOD has accepted his offer. The exact date of the transition of the site to his control is not yet confirmed. Jay said that he intends to make the site more easy to use and more functional to unit owners. It is clear from his work on the previous website that he will do a good job on the new one.

Wendi:

After last night, I gained a lot of respect for you, especially for your Board. At no time did you let this meeting get out of hand and I am the first to apologize for the emails which I sent out on Sunday. They were sent at the heat of the moment with no regard to hearing the other side of the story. Now that I've heard both sides and have spoken to other people, I'm more inclined to believe what I heard last night. I feel it's now time to move on and forget yesterday as we move forward to tomorrow. If you noticed last night, at about 9, I was asked to come out to speak with a member of the old Board. I never got up from my chair. The way I feel right now, the old Board is yesterday and you and your Board are our tomorrow and we'll leave it at that and move on.

Just as a footnote, though, the comment was made last night about how many people showed up for the meeting. I guess I should take full credit for that. Controversy always brings people out. Now, of course if you want a crowd at the next Board meeting......I could always send out more emails........just kidding....ain't gonna happen again, unless it's just a reminder to be at the Board meeting for our unit owners' own benefit.

Seriously though, the reason I'm emailing you has to do with our short discussion about the website. After thinking it over, I have decided to resume my position as the TAJ webmaster. All that I ask of the Board and our office staff, whoever they may be, is that I receive information for posting on the website. As you know, the reason I gave it up in the first place is because the original website had become stagnant from lack of input. I would expect all minutes to come to me in a timely fashion via email in word (.doc) format, as well as meeting agendas emailed to me in the same format. for posting and a list of all upcoming meetings, all in word format. I plan on converting all present, posted information in .pdf format back to html so that when someone clicks on an item, it will immediately come up on their screen, rather than booting up Adobe Acrobat first. The Table of Contents will be upgraded to reflect a more realistic approach to the needs of our community and many of the topics that are there now will be eliminated. Most importantly, I will need access to the online program presently being used for the website. I need info on how to access those rights and obviously, the passwords needed, which I will change once I access the website. You will also know what codes I'm going to use, but I will have the sole authority to make any physical changes to the website with the Board's approval. The website needs a lot of work and I'm willing to undertake it. I just wish that the previous Board had not taken the measure of changing the web to a new format. I really knew the program that I was using at the time....Microsoft FrontPage. Oh well, that again, was yeaterday.

I have many ideas for the website, just as I had for the former website. Maybe this time we can get it right.

New Website Up and Running

TAJ's new website (www.townhousesatjacaranda.org) is up and running. There is a simple process to go through to gain access to the site. Simply submit your name and information via email, as prompted by the site, and you will receive a username and password in return email within a few days.

The site now has Announcements, Documents, Board and Committee meeting notices, as well as some links to the city of Plantation and to Plantation Schools.

The Documents section includes Minutes from BOD meetings from April through September of 2005, the Bulk Pick-up schedule for 2008, and standard TAJ forms such as the Architectural Change Request, Clubhouse Rental Agreement, Owner Pet Agreement, Lease Package, Sales Package, Rules and Regulations, the TAJ Accountant's contact information, and Frequently Asked Questions.

The website administrators have also posted the following message of hope for the future:
*******************************************************
"Welcome to your new Townhouses at Jacaranda Website!!

"We are in the process of organizing the website to include such items as: previous board meeting minutes, agendas, sale packages, lease packages, rules and regulations, just to name a few; as well as links to their useful resources.

"Thank you for your patience."

In the mean time, please contact the Townhouses at Jacaranda management office at 954-472-2283 for any questions and/or concerns you may have.
*******************************************************

As a unit owners I am encouraged by the recent progress on the website. After a long drought of information sharing by the BOD, this new change is a welcome event. I think we all hope to see the progress continue so that eventually meeting minutes will be posted timely and completely and that information is readily available to unit owners.

No Communication: submitted by Jay Stahl, unit owner

Has anyone noticed the total lack of information and communication coming forth from our Association for the past several months? Does anyone care?

Well, there are several of us here at TAJ who do care. Remember the monthly newsletters? We haven't had one since Steve Frahm left the Board last March!

Remember the website? Our community website hasn't been updated since May 22, 2007, the date that I, as your webmaster, resigned from any further involvement. My reason at the time was because the website had become stagnant from lack of information. I tried to keep it current by posting any information I could gather, such as minutes and other info. After I resigned, the Board took up the issue for awhile, going so far as considering an online company to maintain the website at a cost of about 49 dollars a month of your money. My argument to this plan was that with no incoming information, the "new" website would also become stagnant. I maintained the website for four years at no cost to the community.

Going a bit further, everyone here at TAJ has been told that all of our Board members can be contacted, via the website, using the links on the site. Because no one has maintained anything to do with the website since last May, most of the Board's mailboxes are full and will not accept anymore mail.

Our present regime, it seems, has no interest in keeping our residents fully informed as to the goings on within our community. We have elections coming up shortly. Just remember who does communicate with us and who doesn't.

PS from Steve Frahm: I have posted what I think are the email addresses of the members of the Board of Directors. Look in the column on the left for those addresses.
