Public Service Announcement: Car Tires

A friend forwarded a video clip that describes a little-known danger that might affect any one of us. The clip shows an ABC news story (maybe 20/20?) about the bad effects of aging on car tires. It turns out that car tires can dry out if they sit on the shelf for too long. I did not know that. Furthermore, tires are marked with a date of manufacture. I did not know that, either. Click on the second link in this article and go to the very bottom of the page and there is a guide for reading the manufacturer's code. It is possible to buy a tire that has never been used, but is several years old. Ford Motor Company, along with others, has suggested that we not drive on tires older than six years.

After learning this information, I checked my own tires and was pleased to see that they were all manufactured within months prior to the purchase dates. I had not been sold "old tires." Armed with the information provided by the linked sources above, I feel more confident that I will be able to continue to get the tires that I pay for in the future.

Public Service Announcement re Rx Discount Cards

Una traducción española está disponible en Web site: www.TAJWatchSpanish.blogspot.com

Ideally you do not have the need to buy expensive prescription medicines. If you did have a need, hopefully you have insurance coverage that lowers the cost of prescriptions. But if you are one of the many who have the need for medication and do not have any insurance coverage, then you might want to check out this website. The following explanation is an exact quote from that website:

"As a resident of Florida, you and your family have access to a FREE Prescription Drug Card program. Simply download your Prescription Drug Card and receive savings of up to 75% at more than 50,000 national and regional pharmacies. You may create as many cards as you need. Participating pharmacies include the following: Publix, Kmart Pharmacy, Walgreens, Rite Aid, Winn-Dixie, CVS/pharmacy, and Albertsons, as well as thousands of independent pharmacies. Please enter your name and e-mail address below and we will generate a printable membership card for you. This card is pre-activated and can be used immediately."
