Bulk Pick-up Dates, 2009
Pictured above are some of the things that the sanitation workers will not take, even on Bulk Pick-up days. The following information about Bulk Pick-up is taken from the City of Plantation website:
***********************************************************************************
City Administration would like to remind residents of Bulk Pick-up guidelines:
- Bulk waste is defined as furniture, appliances and household items that are too large to fit into a blue solid waste bag or toter cart.
- Black bags containing bulk or other items will not be picked up. Items that can fit inside a bag are not considered “bulk” and should be placed in a regular blue garbage bag, or in a toter cart.
- Each bulk waste item, with the exception of furniture and appliances, shall not exceed an accumulation of two cubic yards (about the size of a kitchen table, 3'x3'x6'), not exceed 4' lengths/40 pounds, have a secure bottom, and be of a shape and size so that two men can safely lift without breaking, and fit into the collection truck.
- Bulk waste collection is for normal residential activities and shall be placed not more than five (5) feet away from the curb or roadway in front of the customer's residence.
- Waste generated by commercial businesses or nurseries is not permitted.
- Waste Management has incorporated the use of “clam” trucks with an arm that extends out and picks up the material. To prevent property damage and expedite the pick-up process, please keep solid waste blue bags or toter carts separate from the bulk pick-up waste, and please do not place any waste too close to your mailbox, street signs, trees or other solid fixtures.
- Bulk pick-up items should be placed in the swale no more than 24-72 hours prior to scheduled pick-up.
Eligible items:
- Household Goods, such as appliances, furniture, mattresses, large toys.
- White Goods, such as washers, dryers, dishwashers, refrigerators with Freon removed.
- Carpeting/Cardboard: flatten and tie with a heavy cord into bundles not to exceed four (4) feet in length and 40 pounds.
- To ensure the safety of Waste Management drivers, mirrors, glass table tops, window panes, plate glass, etc. will only be picked up if they are properly and safely placed in a rigid container.
Leaves and yard waste:
- Small yard waste that will fit inside a bag, such as leaves, shrubbery, small branches, weeds and grass, must be placed into clear yard bags.
- These items will only be removed on your scheduled bulk removal dates, and only when placed in clear bags. Black trash bags are not permitted, and will not be picked up.
- Black bags that are left out on the swale will be issued a notice by Code Enforcement.
- Palm fronds and large branches may be tied into bundles (not to exceed four (4) feet or 40 pounds), and placed alongside bulk pick-up items.
- Yard waste of any kind may always be brought to the City’s Horticultural Recycling Center, located at 750 NW 91st Avenue, off Cleary Boulevard.
The City provides the schedule above for Bulk Pick-up days in 2009. If I read it correctly, the days for Townhouses at Jacaranda are:Jan 12; Feb 10; Mar 10; Apr 14; May 12; Jun 9; Jul 7; Aug 11; Sep 15; Oct 13; Nov 10; Dec 8
