Meet the Candidates Night

A Meet the Candidates Night is scheduled for Thursday evening, February 28th. If you are unable to attend and have questions that you would like to have asked in your absence, submit them here (click on comment at the bottom of this post) and I will do my best to make sure the questions are asked and that the answers are posted here after the meeting.

Do you think that there are questions that all candidates should answer?

Do you know things about the candidates that you would like to share with others in the community? (does not have to be positive, but keep it clean and civil. And you do have to take responsibility for what you say -- no anonymous cheap-shots)

Submit your ideas via email to me, Steve Frahm, at TAJResident.blogspot.com, or simply put them in the comments. If you need help in how to make a comment, scroll all the way down and read the help on the left side of the page.

  1. 1) Is it true that there are currently 2 board members from Building 1 and you would be the third – isn’t 4 a majority?

    2) Do you feel a board member should resign if they can’t actively participate? That tehre shoudl be a minimum commitment to be a board member?

    3) If previous assessments cost $10,000 - $15,000 per unit in 2001/2002, and if they were only for partial work (like back of 16, back of 26, 3, 5, 12, 13, 18, etc.) then what should a full building cost?

    4) Who was the first person to approve the use of hardiepanel and when? Answer: John Lovell, with Restec on Buildings 19, 16 20 and 26 in 2001/2002.

    5) Are all candidates willing to sign checks for the Association? Are they willing to accept responsibility for their actions and votes by being on the bank accounts?

    6) Previously the Board agreed that no board member would vote on items involving solely their own building as it would be considered a conflict of interest – do you agree or disagree with that policy?

    7) Do you agree or disagree with term limits for Board members that the State is pushing through (maximum of 2 terms)

    8) Are you able to dedicate 5-10 hours per week to the association?

    9) Are you willing and able to take a course on condo education for board members?

    10) Have you read the Association documents (declaration of condo, articles of incorporation and bylaws as amended) and Florida Statute 718?

    11) What comes first – your fiduciary responsibility to the Association or your own building’s interest?

    12) Except for Insurance premium increases, the budget has remained relatively stable for the past 4 years – what would you do to reduce the maintenance fees we pay while maintaining services?
